The education sector is one of the crucial elements that determine a country’s growth and development. Recently, competition has increased among institutions, requiring that each school aims at the highest level of productivity. The Pleasantville School District evaluated its pay policy and decided to employ a person-focused pay policy to motivate individual teachers and enhance performance. The goal is to ensure that each teacher works optimally, enabling the Pleasantville School District to compete globally.

The person-focused pay policy rewards employees for learning job-related information, skills, or competencies rather than proving successful job performance under person-focused pay plans. This method of remunerating employees entails three primary types of compensation programs: pay-for-knowledge, pay-for-skills, and pay-for-competence (Martocchio, 2020). For this reason, every teacher who pursues further education, training and demonstrates competence will be rewarded.

Eligibility Requirements

The person-focused pay program will be implemented and applied to every permanently-employed teacher at the Pleasantville School District. To be eligible for this program, one must be a teacher. This means that other workers such as librarians, cooks, and cleaners are not qualified. Second, one must be a permanent teacher at the school. Therefore teachers working under contracts will not be considered for this program.

Acceptable Education and Training, and the Associated Awards

Based on the current needs in the education sector, the relevant education and training for this program include IT, entrepreneurship, and physical education. These are the skills believed to improve students’ well-being and place an institution high on the global scale. Every teacher who completes any of the afore-mentioned training programs will receive a 10 percent salary increment in the month following their raining completion. Every teacher who undertakes and completes an entrepreneurship training program will be given a paid vacation every year to attend a workshop at their preferred location. Every teacher who demonstrates competence in their training areas will be considered for promotion.
