Discussion on the Necessary Changes

It might be assumed that currently, the company has a profit-maximizing ethical climate, given that the employees – for instance, the ones who were fired – act not in accordance with client interest. Instead, they tend to behave unethically in order to gain maximum profit, neglecting the message of the corporation’s founder. Hence, there are prerequisites to switching from such an ethical climate to another one – that can help in addressing the actual issues with employee behavior and morale. In this vein, the trusteeship ethical clime seems a good option, given that it will shift the focus from maximizing profits toward a balance between monetary benefits, employee relations, and the provision of high-quality services to customers. Such an approach fully aligns with the mentioned message of the company’s founder.

The primary foundation for implementing the necessary changes using leadership within the ethical scope will be pragmatism. The latter implies that all the actions and ideas should be evidence-based and result in practical attainments for stakeholders (Manning & Curtis, 2021). Given this, it will be essential to take into account employee needs and interests while realizing a particular plan of action. Hence, in order to achieve success in the given framework, I should use leadership power but consider the staff’s beliefs, visions, and values. This method is likely to result in a healthy working environment and productive internal and external relations.

At this point, it is important to explain the type of leadership power that will be used to instill values and ethics at GTS. I will adhere to the fundamentals of referent power, as it focuses on building and developing significant relationships within the company. This approach appeals to the traits of honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness, which seems appropriate in the context of the founder’s message.

Then, in order to support my task, I will mainly interact with the CEO and Communications Director, given that they have the power to legitimate my plan of action and spread my message and ideas among employees, respectively. It should be noted that I will apply the three elements of the art of persuasion (Manning & Curtis, 2021). Firstly, in terms of understanding people, I will take into account the staff’s needs and values while changing the current ethical climate. Secondly, in the framework of the effective use of words, I will prepare my speeches thoroughly prior to meetings with them. Thirdly, within the scope of the ability to manage conflicts, I will do my best to avert any misunderstanding between other stakeholders and me so that confrontations can be avoided.

Regarding distinguishing between the different ethical perspectives related to my task and to the founder’s value statement, the following should be stated. The mentioned statement stresses the importance of employees to the company, but it is important to find a balance between client interests and the staff needs. Moreover, it is essential to ensure healthy employee relations so that the organization and its employees themselves can benefit from the environment.
