How an organization is managed largely determines its success, as well as the ability of its employees to work in a fruitful manner. This consideration concerns both the effects of leadership and team dynamics present in an organization, as both fundamentally affect how an organization works in its day-to-day operation. While a lot of literature exists on both leadership and team dynamics themselves, a much smaller body of research can be found on the topic of how effective teams are managed and created. Most research focuses on the effect of leadership and team dynamics on team effectiveness through the lens of the functional leadership framework. The approach argues that the tasks handled by the group directly influences the actions of a leader, as they must perform the work that is not being accomplished to a needed extent. Functional leadership will be examined in relation to team efficiency and the proceeding of various team processes. The current study will focus on discussing the impact leadership can have on worker effectiveness and the role team dynamics play in this consideration. The current hypothesis for the project is that the effectiveness of team leadership and positive team dynamics directly affects team effectiveness by enhancing connectivity, communication, and productivity. To examine this question, the available public research on the subject and similar studies will be examined. In addition, the role of trust as a mediator for team leadership, dynamics and effectiveness will be considered. The practical implications of the results of this study will be touched on in the concluding part of the paper. Some suggestions will also be offered.
Methods
- Independent Variables – Team Leadership, Team Dynamics.
- Dependent Variables – Team Effectiveness, Completion of Team Processes.
The research for this paper will include collecting available public data from company organization, as well as reviewing the available body of literature on the subject of team leadership, team dynamics, and team effectiveness in relation to each other. In particular, the correlational and causational links between leadership/dynamics and effectiveness will be the focus of the work. The main goal in the collection of data is to establish a correlation between the three variables, which will then serve as a basis for proving a causational relation. It is proposed that the two former components positively affect the latter, creating a causational relationship between them and influencing the workflow of a company.
The data will be collected with the use of the internet by reviewing business journals and publications made not later than 5 years ago, which will serve as a contemporary basis for our research. The articles will concern the effects of team leadership on corporate performance, as well as the factors that can affect team effectiveness in a group setting. The data will be examined through the use of thematic analysis, finding the general trends and agreements between the authors of studies, as well as general trends displayed by the variables. The main reason why this particular method was chosen is that it was deemed to be most appropriate given the subject and the data involved. While it is possible to collect quantitative data, it would be more productive and fruitful for a future discussion to examine the results of studies in their intricate details. It is also expected that the process of research would bring about other possible factors affecting the variables that will need to be actively taken into account and handled in their own manner.
