Influence of Ethics on Employee Attitudes and Morale

The standards for morally wrong or right (ethics) shape the working culture, impacting employee behavior and attitudes. Working under organizational ethical guidelines should make employees bold and confident in their work. Ahmad (2020) states that the perception of ethical behavior affects job satisfaction, employee performance, trust, organizational commitment, and organizational citizenship. Employees know that in everything they do, they make positive impacts when working for an organization with a strict ethical stand. They become better team players, making positive contributions in group work and never hinder progress (Friesen, 2021). Therefore, ethics in business should influence employees towards bringing these benefits to an organization. They should also encourage employees in their excellent work ethic because it is associated with increased employability and exposure to better job opportunities. Ethics should make employees feel confident with their work and motivated to continue doing good for the organizations they serve.

Impact of Ethics on My Organization

Companies that demonstrate ethical behavior have a better chance of success, even in today’s competitive market. I have seen the success in the organization I work for, which does not tolerate employees who violate the organization’s ethical guidelines. Our mission and code of conduct require us to treat our customers with the utmost respect and consideration. As a result, employees rarely get into disrespectful arguments that can ruin the company’s reputation. Group projects are completed in time, having included contributions from different departments. Ethics, in this case, have allowed collaboration and teamwork, leading to increased productivity and improved quality.

My organization’s management team shows commitment to ethics by holding weekly sessions about projects. During the sessions, employees share ideas and proposals and receive recognition for providing exceptional service to our clients. Employees leave these gatherings feeling appreciated and respected. An organization with a healthy culture has a clear set of ethical standards and employees who are not afraid to voice their opinions (Yang & Wei 2018). Consider a company whose primary value is employee respect. If everyone followed this rule, there would not be nearly as much drama and confusion in the workplace. My experience has taught me that even when organizations are open about their policies, some employees will choose to disregard them. As a result, worker output and morale suffer greatly.
