Planning

Planning will be focused on selecting the most effective goals and activities to pursue. It will determine which strategies to implement, the actions to take and make judgments on the resources required to achieve the goals. Organizational planning creates goals, deliverables, schedules, and objectives to guide an organization’s future (Harrison, 2017). Most planning tasks might take anywhere from a few weeks to many years to complete, depending on the complexity of an organization’s goal. An organization will evaluate and monitor the results of the planning process to collect input that can be utilized in the future to effect improvements.

Things I Plan to do and Implement to Build an Effective Team and Culture

The first step is to map or plan how to attain the precise goals. As a result, the overall health of the warehouse and the plant supervisors and workers should be considered when optimizing packing. To attain these goals, as a manager, one will be able to identify and implement the necessary steps (Harrison, 2017). The following procedures will be used to create a detailed plan. It is possible to reach the goals if the steps are spelled out correctly. Furthermore, the plan will be incorporated into the company’s policies and become part of the workplace culture.

As stated before, the initial stage would be to design a plan outlining what the plant wishes to accomplish and the underlying goals, which in this instance, would maximize the efficiency of the packing operations. Next, the management and other members of the team must provide feedback on how this should be done and how it might be performed after an outline has been established (Harrison, 2017). After that, this will be disseminated to every team member or to the workers and managers at the factory, whichever comes first. It will then be followed by setting up necessary procedures to be followed to the letter to guarantee that the goals outlined will be achieved.

Therefore, the plan will move on to the execution phase of this project, which will be the process of putting the stages into a plan. Every team member will commit to working on the plan to meet the objectives of the plant or the company (Ruben, 2019). In all of their endeavors, it will be essential to guarantee that workers cultivate the habit of always keeping the work plan in mind and keeping their focus on the goals. It will make it such that this becomes the standard way of doing things at the plant.

Plans and Systems to be Used

Decisions will be made based on six different issues when designing structures for strategic planning. These will include the communication of the organization’s aims, the creation of goals, the performance of environmental scanning, the concentration of subordinate management staff, the function of the organizational planner, and the connection between planning and budgeting (Ruben, 2019). To formulate a comprehensive strategy that will guarantee that the organization achieves its underlying goals and objectives, each of these components needs to be considered and cooperate.

Organizing: Assessment of the Current Amazon Work Structure

The current work structure at Amazon is based on a functional organizational model, which primarily focuses on initiating worker relationships to enable workers to work collaboratively toward achieving organizational goals. This model was chosen because it allows for the greatest amount of flexibility. The organizational structure of the company enables it to exert a great deal of control over its e-commerce activities located all over the world and its network of supply chains. It encourages managerial power, which is necessary to implement strategic management goals. Its functional organizational structures are responsible for the business functions that are categorized into the global hierarchy, function-based groupings, and geographical divisions of the company.

Proposed Changes to make it More Effective and Efficient

After a plan has been implemented, it will be necessary to organize or rearrange the existing team and the available resources so that they correspond to the new plan and are appropriate for the management in place. At the same time as providing said supervisors, the work in this part will involve distributing duties to various supervisors and team leaders. These obligations will be fulfilled by leaders who have the authority to guarantee the plant’s efficiency and maximum output (Ruben, 2019). These alterations will encourage flexibility in organizational interactions, so contributing to the increased stability of the company’s top management.

The Structure to be Used and Implemented

It will be a hierarchical structure in which the instructions and directives flow from the top down, while also performing follow-ups in different departments and work units to see the progress made with the task. In light of this organizational structure, there is the intention to utilize departmentalization to obtain productive results (Lloyd & Aho, 2020). Depending on the specifics of the tasks that need to be completed, the plant operations will be broken down into more manageable work units or divisions. There will be a supervisor in charge of each department, and that supervisor will report directly to the plant manager.

Staffing: Analysis of Staffing Needs

Staffing and Replacing Members in the Organization

Recruitment and selection of people for the company’s positions is a significant focus of staffing (within departments and teams). As the new manager of the plant, there is the need to speak with the HR department to get an idea of each department’s manpower requirements. There are numerous ways to meet personnel demands, including recruitment, selection, and training or employee development (Peprah et al., 2022). This will be taken care of with the help of the human resources department.

Application of HR Process

When it comes to staffing, one of the most important roles that human resource performs in any firm is undoubtedly crucial. Before making any personnel choices, the plant manager should have instructed HR to conduct an audit of the plant’s workforce requirements (Peprah et al., 2022). This should be done before an individual make any moves that are related to staffing. As a result, the audit report or findings should be considered at the management level before coming up with any solutions to address the staffing difficulties, assuming such issues even exist.

Suggestions

Staffing is a broad topic with numerous facets. Because of this, the HR department should focus on those employees who are soon retiring, those within the corporate structure who can occupy their roles, those who can be reprocessed or established to assume the new roles, and whether or not there is a need to hire new staff or train the already present workers regarding carrying out new tasks (Lloyd & Aho, 2020). Staffing difficulties will be effectively addressed if this is properly implemented.

Leading: Justification of Leadership Theory and Style

Motivating and inspiring people is a critical managerial function that employs persuasion and excellent communication to articulate the company’s goal and energize the workforce. The final goal of the planning process determines whether to adopt transformational or transactional leadership (Gandolfi & Stone, 2018). An essential role of management is to set an example by setting clear expectations and guiding the team toward achieving those expectations. Motivating, coaching, and encouraging the team will be a part of this process (Lloyd & Aho, 2020). As a manager, an individual will need to be involved in mentoring, assisting, and working together to solve difficulties that may emerge at the plant.

Measures and Controls to be Implemented and Four Steps of Control Application

An evaluation of how well the organization’s objectives are met, improvement in performance, and adopting necessary actions are all part of this. The consequence is the establishment of procedures that allow for the measurement of performance, the comparison of outcomes, and the formulation of sound decisions. In addition to the existing management tools already in place, the four control steps will be used to monitor the process. In the end, the manager’s job is not done yet. There will be a constant comparison of the results to the specified targets. Next, corrective measures will be implemented to ensure that the plans for each work unit, department, and plant are followed. The following four steps can be used to accomplish this goal. The process of establishing guidelines: It is the manager’s responsibility to ensure that all employees know the goals for themselves, their teams, their departments, and the plant as a whole.

Performance should be evaluated after a specific period, and the management should ensure the goals are measurable. There should be an opportunity to compare results at the end of each given period regarding performance versus the set objectives. Making decisions; – after evaluating the outcomes, procedures for corrective action should be in place to assist with continuous improvement.
